Iloilo 2017: Bulubadiangan Sandbar

I've been in Iloilo twice already. I fell in love with the place and the warm of locals (maybe because I'm half-Ilongga) when I went solo trip last 2016. Luckily, the venue of our International Conference (ICON) in SFC last 2017 was in Iloilo City and had chance to re-visit the province!

Few years back, my boss mentioned that his mother's hometown is in Concepcion, Iloilo and a sandbar, the Bulubadiangan Island located few kilometers from their beach property. I googled it and look for a contact. I stumbled upon the contact number of Concepcion Tourism Office. I recommend to book a tour in tourism office.

After our conference, Sunday afternoon, most of the participants and our friends went to Gigantes Islands and nearby tourist spots in Iloilo. While me and my friend, Denz went to Bulubadiangan Island in Concepcion. Initially, I planned to go there solo but Denz's flight was Monday night, instead of going with our friends who went to Gigantes, he joined me since we just gonna stay there overnight. Hopped in the jeep going to North Terminal. We rode a van going to Sara and drop off in Aljuy.

It took 3 hours to Aljuy and we rode again a jeep and took us 30 minutes going to Concepcion.

We went to tourism office of Concepcion and meet my contact there. We register, pay fees and they assigned a motorboat who will bring us to Bulubadiangan Island. They offered us island hopping to Agho Island and other islands but we refused since we are sooo tired and we need rest ( Titos and Titas of Manila na eh hahaha). We bought food and drinks in town before we head up to Island.

Enjoying the view of nearby islands and newly built Power Plant :)

After 20 minutes of boat ride, we arrived at Bulubadiangan Island. Head to beach resort and check in at Sandbar Island beach resort. Initially, we planned to pitch a tent, but the owner of beach resort offered us a newly built affordable room, so we grabbed it.

Our accommodation :)

We changed our pa-aura clothes and stroll around the island. It's a very peaceful, uncrowded and quiet place. There are few people in the island that day. We just enjoy the view and took pictures :)

Sows! pa-aura pose hahaha

It's high tide that afternoon and most of the sandbar submerged in the water. But you can still see the sandbar. According to the residents, you can see the very long sandbar when it is low tide, most probably in the morning :)

We just enjoy the beach and view of the island. We went to the end of the sandbar and they are right! We saw a long stretch of sandbar submerged in the water!

cutie :)

We took our dinner and had a few bottles of beer, sound tripping and chat while in the hammock. We met a solo traveler then, Mark. He joined us and chat until midnight :) We also stroll to beach and it was low tide. We accompanied by a local and found few starfish!

We woke up early and stroll again along the beach. We went to sandbar and yes! It's a very looooong sandbar! It's a longest sandbar I've ever seen!

Locals keep the beach clean :)

We walked to the end of the sandbar and it was like connected to nearby island!

Super long sandbar!

We leave the island at 9:00 am of Monday and promised to go back in Bulubadiangan!

arte pose hahaha

Before we head up to Iloilo City, I took some pictures of Concepcion town :) We rode a Ceres bus going back to Iloilo City.

Bulubadiangan Island is one of my favorite place. Why? The island is very quiet, clean, cozy, underrated and peaceful place. I can live there like forever! hahaha! I definitely recommend this place to those who wants reflect and relax.
